LAN! LAN! LAN!
Great compliment to the first batch of fixes! Quite amazing how fast you are addressing our observations of problems. But please: Cant you consider a change to your policy? You didn't allow LAN-play for the time being, but I guess most die-hard VP players are seeing the same predicament that I see a...

Re: Vp4 vs. Vp3---what are you going to do/play?
I guess there is nobody more loyal to VP and to Celeris than you, Hugh, and if even you are criticizing this decision they should listen. Allowing LAN play would surely not hurt Celeris' coming business-model cause its too much fumbling around for the average Joe...but it would be a solution for us ...

Vp4 vs. Vp3---what are you going to do/play?
Despite all the little things still to be improved: after a few hours of playing snooker in VP4 Im so fascinated with the realism of it that I just want to keep playing it. What I do in VP4 almost perfectly mirrors my playing in real life: the breaks, the misses, the positions. But then I played a g...

Aiming
After a bit more of playing snooker it seems to me as if the aiming is different than the aiming for snooker was in VP3. Its seems to be much better: in VP3 at some point I realized that the aiming is different than aiming in the pool games: in snooker I had to aim just a tad beside the pocket. Now ...

Several points
Guess, most die-hard VP3 players will first hate this new game cause it just obliterates all our "skills" by increased realism. Makes me grunt, too, but its okay. Actually its good. I want it realistic. Since, if I get it right, there was no beta-testing, we are the beta-testers, and I gue...

Thanks Alin....but there is nothing in this that I hadnt tried, and multiple time.
....but I can live with what Im getting now until, perhaps, you never know, VP4 comes on.

Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris
Final update: Hugh really spent more than two hour of his time to work, via Skype and Teamviewer, on this problem with me. The graphic problem remained unsolved, but he could point me to the solution of the router problem that I also had and afterwards I couldnt only join, but even, after a very lon...

I so much not like to fiddle around with this again, but your offer is just too kind to decline it. Not sure about my free time the next days, but I will in any case contact you and give it a try. ...and that way i can talk to you and tell you what a numpty you are at the same time.... :bs: :bootysh...

Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris
hey....I got a lot of well meant advice in this thread which Im thankful for, so I think its appropriate to put a final remark here: After everything else failed, I finally went to the last possible solution for my problem: I installed the old 9x version of DX. It didnt help. For two weeks I just ga...

Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris
Note my point on the compatibility thing was make sure you uncheck ALL the boxes on the Compatibility tab after you had tried all the modes/settings as VP3 doesn't need to run in compatibility mode in Windows 7. Yes, Id done that...and indeed the box that defines the resolution *was* checked at som...

Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris
Hugh and Bagpuss: yes, Ive tried everything you mention, apart from intalling DX9...tried all compatibility modes, and did several uninstalls, re-installs of VP. I even tried installing the ancient old version 3217. Zwylle: slightly odd, the driver version I saw under system-control-system-hardware ...

Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris
I researched the option of additionally installing direct x 9.0c, and apparently some guys made very bad experiences with that, up to the point of having to completely reinstall the OS. I cant risk that with some threatening deadlines ahead of me. AlinVille: I tried your advice and changed the resol...

Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris
have you installed direct x 9.0c, you will need some of the old files in that which are not included in direct x 10/11. Oh manure. No, I have not installed DX 9....can I do that without it somehow compromising my version 11? I wonder: Since Hugh seems to be on about the same system that Im on: Have...

Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris
Go to Registry (regedit) and search for CVP3, that will direct you to the serial of VP3. Anyway on the right you will see Full Screen X and Full Screen Y, double-click those, choose Decimal and type in your own values, 1680 respectively 1050. Not a good solution but I'm curious if this works. Ah, t...

Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris
You haven't made any changes whatsoever to your computer except only adding a new serial? Try this... go to Settings - Graphics and turn Hardware Acceleration on. Then restart VP3 and see if anything changes under Video Mode. Well, no changes, so to speak---but its an entirely new computer. I forgo...

Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris
Thanks for ongoing help, guys. Ok, so here I am atm: ---Video driver for my NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 is the most recent one. Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris
Play in window mode and maximize the size of your window. You'll get good resolution, plus smooth taskswitching. darn...tried that but it wont let me resize the window. And now I realize the VP symbol on my desktop has a little blue-yellowish shield symbol added to it, which probably means that win...

Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris
Thanks a bunch for your offer, Hugh, but I finally got the mail with the serial today. ...however, there is another problem now, and perhaps you have a clue: Video Mode only offers me a resolution of 640x480x32...I tried several compatibility-modes, but that didnt help. Im currently using a Win 7 64...

New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris
I tried getting VP to work on my new computer. Everything seemed to work fine, I got to the point where I get the message that my old serial is ok and that I will be sended a new one by mail. But no mail came. I then mailed support at celeris, explaining the problem and including the old mail from t...

Odd fix for stubborn VP/GS problem
As those of you who are playing me more often know from my constant whining, I was having stubborn crashing problems for the past three years, and Ive really tried everything to solve them -- in vain. Now they are solved, and by something Id never expected: the last router firmware-update did it. Si...

Re: Enhance VP3 graphics with AntiAliasing
Thanks, AlinVille! The lack of anti-aliasing in VP had annoyed me for years, and it never occured to me I could simply fix that though the graphic driver. Duh!
Everything looks so much more pristine now!

A Most Complete Player
I don’t know if it’s possible and I doubt it would interest many guys here, but I wonder: Would it be possible to have a tourney or a championship or whatever for the title of The Most Complete Player? What I mean is this: the games of VP seem to be divided into three basic areas: the pool games, Sn...

Why is everybody always playing 9ball?
I understand why the very best pool players prefer 9ball: it cuts it all short. Your goal is break and then run the game and then run the next game. Cool...but how many of us are playing in that league? Sure not me and sure not 95 percent of all the guys who are playing 9ball. For very most guys 9ba...
